Shri Thanedar, Ph.D. has been named Azopharma's new CEO!
Since 1990, Dr. Thanedar has been chairman and owner of Azopharma as well as Chemir Analytical Services, a chemical testing company, and has a strong background in technical services.
"We will return focus to our core capabilities and will increase attention on the science as well as delivering what we've promised to our clients. Emphasis on our core capabilities will assure the highest quality products and on-target timelines. These modifications will improve both the quality of Azopharma's work as well as the level of customer service."

In addition to being CEO of Azopharma, Dr. Thanedar is owner and chairman of Azopharma as well as Chemir Analytical Services, a chemical testing company. Dr. Thanedar earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Karnatak University in 1973 and received a Masters in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Bombay. Upon moving to the United States, he received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Akron in 1982, held a post-doctoral appointment at the University of Michigan from 1982-1984, and received an MBA from Fontbonne University in 1987.
Dan Cammarata, CPA, Chief Financial Officer
Dan Cammarata brings years of experience as CFO for both AllianceCare and Interim Healthcare. He has a strong track record for decreasing costs and streamlining business systems. Prior to entering the healthcare industry, Mr. Cammarata worked with several leading telecommunication, retail, and financial services firms. He received his BBA from Florida Atlantic University.
Robert J. Buta, Jr. RAC, VP, Preclinical Services
Robert J. Buta has worked in Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs for over 20 years and has successfully designed, implemented and managed Quality Systems for Preclinical, Clinical and Manufacturing programs. Mr. Buta is currently responsible for Azopharma's preclinical facility which supports early phase development for the pharmaceutical and medical device industries.
Bruce Hardee, VP, Clinical Services
Bruce Hardee has worked in human clinical operations and program management for more than 12 years, conducting over 150 multi-therapeutic trials from Phase I through Phase III. He is a certified clinical research coordinator and is highly experienced in regulatory compliance.
Kevin M. Kane, Ph.D., VP, Business Development
Dr. Kane is an industry leading expert in enhancing drug performance and has over 16 year experience in solubilization, formulation, predictive modeling, physicochemical behavior of materials, and drug delivery systems. Prior to coming to Azopharma in 2005, Kevin worked with Hewlett-Packard's Drug Delivery program in Puerto Rico, as a consultant, and for Bend Research, Inc.. Dr. Kane received his Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Ohio University (Athens) and his M.S. from Texas State University (San Marcos) in Polymer Chemistry.
J. Blair West, Ph.D., Senior VP, Technical Affairs
Dr. West is vastly experienced in the areas of pharmaceutical process design, drug discovery technology development, novel drug synthesis, formulations research (drug solubilization, excipient design, formulations aids to improved absorption) and drug delivery platform design (controlled release, triggered release). He received his Ph.D. in Bio-Organic Chemistry (Enzymatic Organic Synthesis) from Texas A&M University and his B.A. in Biochemistry from Harvard University.
John McCarty, VP, Formulation Sciences
Through his career John has left an indelible mark on the pharmaceutical industry and has held R&D management positions at Key Pharmaceuticals, Schering-Plough and Pharmavene (acquired by Shire). John is known through the industry for his broad expertise in all major dosage forms and has been a regular contributor to various industry publications. John is listed on 17 U.S. and foreign patents and holds B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Microbiology from Florida Atlantic University.
Rod Hartwig, VP, Formulation, Manufacturing and Operations
Mr. Hartwig is experienced in the areas of experimental design, process scale-up, drug delivery technology, transdermal drug delivery, and other drug delivery platforms. Rod has several publications in the field of transdermal drug delivery, and several patent applications world-wide. Prior to joining Azopharma, Rod worked for Noven Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and the State of Tennessee. He received his B.S in Chemistry from Austin Peay State University.
Melissa Porazzo, VP, Corporate Compliance
Melissa Porazzo has held several positions at Azopharma lending to her diversified experience. Her previous positions include Director of Quality Control, Senior Director of Corporate Quality Assurance, and Executive Director of Program Management. Prior to joining Azopharma, Ms. Porazzo worked with Andrx Pharmaceuticals as an R&D Scientist and with Biogen as an Associate Scientist-Clinical. Ms. Porazzo received her B.S. in both Toxicology and Pharmaceutical Sciences from Northeastern University (Boston).
